“Trifecta Tuesday” Where yours truly takes an album (a CD really) from his discography of over 200 and picks three essential tracks to take from that album.
I’ll start by admitting that even though I own all QotSA albums, I’m mostly a casually fan of them. I admit that I got into them when they released Songs For The Deaf back in 2002. I’ll admit that it’s been hard for me to grow to like the two previous releases even before that. Ok, good? Any questions? Too late.
Crank that bass up (I can’t believe I just typed that, what the fuck). To make yourself look smart in front of your peers, you can say there’s clearly an organ on this track.
Ever wonder how many instruments or noises from different items Josh Homme can fit onto one song? I do. Listen closely and it sounds like there’s a power drill being turned on and on and on again.
“3's And 7's”
A fast song which I wish was a more recurrent thing on QotSA releases. Then again, songs like this are the ones that are usual put out as singles first.
Clearly I took three of the heaviest songs on the album (there’s a couple more heavy ones on it) Era Vulgaris is an album I feel like fans have forgotten about because there’s honestly not one song that you’ll truly love on it, like there previous releases. You’ll like the album, but that’s it. This would be the bands last release for six years when 2013's ...Like Clockwork showed up.
